PSCO. INSIDER

Get to know Kellie Carlos

When it comes to interiors, Kellie’s approach is as intuitive as it is intentional. In this conversation, Sara Sutton, Founder and Director of Perth Style Company, sits down with Kellie to unpack the ideas, inspirations, and quiet details that define her work. Exploring how design becomes not just what you see, but what you feel.

Q: Let’s start at the beginning — how did you find your way into design?

A: Design has been on my radar since high school. I was always drawn to creating. For a while, I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to pursue fashion or interiors, both spoke to that same creative side of me. In the end, interiors won. I loved the idea of shaping how people feel in a space, not just how it looks. It’s a kind of creativity that connects deeply with how people live day to day, and that’s what’s kept me hooked ever since.

Q. So, why join PSCO?

A: I’ve been following Perth Style Company on socials for years, watching the team grow and really cement their place in the property styling industry. Their work has always stood out, there’s a clear level of care and intention behind everything they do. When the opportunity came up to join, it just felt like the right fit. The fact that Perth Style Company has its own warehouse and logistics team is such a bonus too! It makes installations so much smoother and allows me to focus more on the creative side of things, which is what I love most.

Q: What excites you most about this new chapter?

A: Working with an established team that truly values design excellence. There’s a strong creative culture at PSCO. everyone is deeply invested in delivering beautiful, considered spaces. I’m excited to contribute my own perspective, keep learning, and be part of a team that continues to set the benchmark for styling in Perth.

Q: Let’s talk Interiors — what makes them special?

A: Interiors can change your mood instantly...colour, texture + furniture placement can dictate how people interact with each other, and live together. Even subtle changes in lighting + window treatments can make such a difference + give a space added warmth + atmosphere.

Q: What’s your approach with clients?

A: I take a really personal approach with clients. I like to understand how people or families actually live — what their routines look like, what feels natural to them. From there, I focus on creating spaces that flow beautifully and feel effortless to use, while still having that sense of style and comfort that makes them feel at home.

Q: Favourite part of the design process?

A: My favourite part of the process is taking clients through my ideas + concepts for their homes. I can usually feel their relief at having someone else take over...it can be an overwhelming process, so I like being able to bring some clarity to them.

A close second is seeing my clients living in + loving their new space.

Q: Three words that sum up your design philosophy?

A: Flow, balance + practicality

Q: You’re also a mum — how does that influence the way you design?

A:
Family dynamics are such an important factor when designing interiors. I am always considering how each person can feel comfortable in their own home, and I love to incorporate practical solutions to make life easier for the whole family.

Q: And when you’re not knee-deep in fabrics and furniture?

A: On weekends you will usually find me on the sidelines of ovals + playing fields all over Perth, watching my teenage son play footy or cricket :)
