After consecutive wet and cold days here in Perth, it's time to face reality... it's definitely time to layer up in our winter woolies as we are in for a lot of cold this year!
Now, whilst our winter might be mild compared to other parts of the world, we can't deny that we'd rather retreat indoors this time of year instead of venturing out & about! So, how can we perfect that winter haven at home? Well it is simple and is all about creating that cosy feeling, snuggling up by the fire to relax over a lazy weekend.
1. Switch up the colour palette
With winter in full force, its time to replace the softer, more muted palette for moody hues and rich colours. Think charcoal grey, forrest green, midnight blue and inky tones - whilst dark and heavy, these tones are easily broken up with touches of blonde timber and a textured rug. This look is totes #trending this season, whilst still achieving that soft and relaxed feel we all want for a soulful home.
2. Embrace layers
In our books, winter is the perfect season to think indulgently and embrace luxe with layers. Our go-to's are throws, cushions and floor rugs in a range of textures like knits, felts, velvets and furs. When paired with your sofa or favourite lounge chair, you can achieve that perfect winter warmth feel with minimal effort and expense.
To ensure the mood is right, think about swapping out those cool white globes for softer warmer lighting to ensure the ambience is juuuuust right. To add to your lighting scheme you can strategically place an appropriately sized mirror to reflect light. This also has the benefit of making a space feel more spacious.
